Weight belts
Don’t use them unless you’ve previously injured your back and need the support. It’s important you develop strength in your core (back and abs) to provide stability. The plank and side plank are key exercises for this.
Weight gloves
If you’ve never used Olympic bars and free weights before you’ll probably get sore palms, but don’t be tempted to use gloves. In time your hands will harden, and lifting without gloves will also give you a better feel on the bar and produce better lifting.
